Slabs of the basic commercial grades are currently traded in a range of $340/mt to $350/mt, FOB conditions, a major exporter told SteelOrbis.

He mentioned that earlier this month it was possible to negotiate the product in the $320/mt to $340/mt FOB range, but more recently prices are following the positive trend in the international markets.

A second source, also from an exporter, confirmed the uptrend but mentioned that he did not close so far a deal at $340/mt FOB, only at $335/mt FOB.

In September, ArcelorMittal Tubarao exported its slab at $362/mt, ThyssenKrupp CSA at $360/mt, Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP) at $318/mt and Gerdau Acominas at $431/mt, all FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in July.
