Brazil exported 6,400 mt of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) in July, 85 percent less than in June and the lowest monthly volume in recent years, according to the country’s ministry of industry, foreign trade and services, MDIC.

The average FOB price was 5.5 percent higher at $894/mt, with ArcelorMittal exporting 4,400 mt at $819/mt FOB and CSN exporting 1,900 mt at $985/mt FOB, for price deals probably closed in May. The volume was almost entirely shipped to Latin American countries, with 4,400 mt destined to Argentina.

Meanwhile, Brazil imported in July 38,100 mt of HDG at $672/mt, of which 35,600 mt from China at $661/mt, both FOB conditions, making the country a net importer of HDG for the month.

According to a local exporter, HDG exports currently remain negotiated for export from Brazil in a FOB price range of $770/mt to $790/mt.
