AK Steel has advised its customers that a $155/nt ($171/mt or $7.75 cwt.) surcharge will be added to invoices of electrical steel products shipped in January 2010.

This surcharge reflects a decrease of $30/nt ($33/mt or $1.50 cwt.) from the company's December 2009 surcharge.

AK's surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the November 2009 purchase cost used to determine the January 2010 surcharges.
