Activity still lackluster in local Chinese PPGI market

During the week ending February 6, pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) quotations in the Chinese domestic market have indicated slight rises for thick specifications, remaining stable for thin specifications, while overall transaction activity has remained poor. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, slight price rises have been seen in the market in Boxing due to lack of materials in the spot market as some producers have idled their production ahead of the Spring Festival holiday (Feb. 18-24). Although traders in Boxing have tried to increase offer prices, this has had only a limited impact in actual transactions. As for most other local markets in China, PPGI prices have remained stable. It is expected that PPGI prices will fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.
