Unemployment average in the EU

As per the information obtained from Eurostat, the average unemployment rate in the 15 member states of the European Union (EU) is recorded as 8.1% as of end April 2003. The EU's unemployment rates on some of the countries are; 3.5% in Luxembourg, 3.7% in the Netherlands, 4.3% in Austria, 4.6% in Ireland, 5.1% in Denmark, 5.3% in Sweden, 7.3% in Portugal, 7.9% in Belgium, 9.4% in Germany, 9.2% in Finland and 11.4% in Spain. According to the information provided by the EU's statistics institution Eurostat, the unemployment rate for the same period is recorded as 6% in the US and 5.4% in Japan.
