Turkish White Goods sector data in November
Based on the data released from White Goods Industrialists' Association, in the first eleven months of 2003; production, imports, domestic sales and exports of Turkey's white goods sector (refrigerator, washing machine, dishwasher and oven) increased by 27%, 8%, 19% and 36%, respectively, when compared with the figures recorded in the same period of previous year. On the other hand, November figures show a decrease on monthly basis. White goods production in November decreased by 17% when compared with the figure of October. Moreover, domestic sales decreased by 12% again in the same period when compared with 299'000 units recorded in October. A decrease of 20% is recorded in exports of November, when compared with 660'000 units recorded in October, which resulted from the decrease recorded in washing machine exports in November. When import figures are examined, the table is different. Imports of white goods in November increased by 85%, when compared with the figure of October, as a result of the increase recorded in imports of refrigerator, dishwasher and washing machine in November. When November 2003 figures are compared with November 2002 figures, increases of 12%, 79%, 26% and 19% are observed in white goods production, imports, domestic sales and exports, respectively. To sum up, November figures indicate contraction compared to October due to decrease in sales as a result of decrease in production.
