Turkish automotive sector exports up by 44.2%

Exports of Turkish automotive sector, which has tend to the foreign markets, reached $3.87 billion in the first five months of 2004, indicating a rise of %44.2. With this figure, automotive sector surpassed the exports of $3.865 billion recorded in 2001. According to Uludag Exporters Union (UIB) data, passenger cars increased by 92.8% to $1.4 billion, subsidiary industry to $1.2 billion and followed by carrier motor vehicles with $697 million. In January-May 2004 period, automotive sector exported 153 countries and self governing territory as well as 13 free zones. Germany ranked the first with $600 million, followed by France, Italy, UK and Spain in exports which made mostly to European countries.
