Turkish automotive sector beats record in the first nine months
Turkish
automotive sector broke the export record in the first nine months of the year.
Automotive sector exceeded the 359'685 units recorded in the end of 2003 with 376'085 units of motor vehicle exports in Jan-Sep period.
According to the
Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) data,
automotive exports in the first nine months of the year were 16'400 units higher than the 2003 exports. The increase in Jan-Sep period was recorded as 120'935 units compared to the same period of last year. Motor vehicle exports were 255'150 units in the first nine months of last year.
In Jan-Sep period, the increase in total vehicle exports was registered as 47% while automobile exports rose by 50% to 224'661 units. Commercial vehicle exports reached 143'646 units with a rise of 48%.
The
automotive sector exports are expected to reach $9.5 billion with 500'000 units at the end of the year. Export revenue amounted to $7.89 billion in the first nine months with a rise of 55%.
Oyak Renault ranked first among the manufacturers with exports of 99'760 units in the mentioned period. This is followed by Ford Otosan with 96'839 units and Toyota with 85'289 units.
