Turkey’s May exports up by 26.8%

According to Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) data, Turkey's May exports reached $4.95 billion, up by 26.8% compared to the same period of last year. In the first five months of 2004, exports rose by 34.7% to $24.4 billion while twelve months' exports amounted to $54 billion, revealing an increase of 33%. Industrial products again obtained the largest share in the total exports. In May, industrial products took 88.1% portion with $4.4 billion. Exports of ready-to-wear and apparel products indicated a decrease of 2.7% and amounted to $965 million. Vehicle and allied industry exports increased by 46.3% to $873 million while ferrous and non-ferrous metal exports reached $796 million, up by 66.9%.
