Turkey's Home Appliance Manufacturers Association data show that the country's domestic home appliance sales rose 11.2 percent month on month to 556'669 units in June. Domestic sales also rose 5 percent year on year. For the first six months of the year, domestic sales rose 4.9 percent year on year to 2.4 million units. Despite the 18.9 percent month on month growth, year-to-date imports dropped 7.4 percent from a year earlier to 190'399 units. Home appliance exports also rose 7 percent month on month in June after a slight rise in May. Export figures show a year-on-year rise of 11 percent. Year-to-date exports started to recover with a 3 percent increase compared to first half of 2004. Total production dropped 1 percent year on year in line with the modest growth both in export and domestic demand. Home appliances sector shows a relatively moderate year of growth after a boost in 2004. Economists expect domestic sales to grow around 10 percent in 2005.
