Turkey’s consumption goods imports exceed $10 billion

In the first nine months of the year, Turkey's total imports exceeded $70 billion due to the increase in consumption goods imports. Consumption goods imports, which rose by 101.8% from a year earlier in the first nine months of the year to $10.9 billion, fueled by the increase in automobile and petroleum imports. Turkey's total consumption goods imports were recorded as $5 billion in the same period of last year. Petroleum imports reached $1.6 billion in the first nine months of the year with a rise of almost nine-fold compared to $167 million recorded in the corresponding period of last year. At the same time, automobile imports were recorded as $3.1 billion in the mentioned period. Last year, Turkey imported automobiles worth $1.2 billion. Durable consumption goods imports also rose by 66.2% to $1.6 billion while non-durable goods imports were recorded as $2.4 billion with a rise of 37.4%.
