Turkey’s 2004 cumulative auto exports surpass 2003 figure
Turkish
automotive exports reached $7.5 billion in the first nine months of the year with a rise of 47.1% compared to $5.2 billion recorded in the same period of last year. Accordingly,
automotive exports surpassed $7.2 billion registered in 2003.
In September,
automotive exports were recorded as $975.5 million, up by 51% compared to $646.9 million recorded in September 2003.
According to the data of Uludag Exporters Union (UIB), in the first nine months, passenger cars rose by 88.5% to $2.8 billion and this is followed by subsidiary industry with $2.2 billion and carrier motor vehicles with $1.5 billion.
In Jan-Sep 2004 period, Turkish
automotive sector exported to a total of 173 countries in the five continental, self-governing territories and 14 free zones as well as developed western countries. Exports were mainly made to European countries and
Germany ranked first with $1.22 billion and followed by
France,
Italy, England and
Spain.
