Steel needed for Lebanon's reconstruction

After the five-week war between Israel and Lebanon, an armistice has been signed. Currently, situation seems to be calm and Lebanese people already focused on reconstruction of their country. Although how much money needed for infrastructural repair and highways and homes' construction could not be projected, this amount appears to be relatively huge. Lebanon government estimates that only the infrastructural damage reached $2.5 billion. After the civil war in 1975-1989, Lebanon spent most of the economic input of $50 billion for highways, hospitals, airports, chapels and other infrastructure services' repair and reconstruction. Currently, most of these infrastructures and some buildings are unavailable. Especially Southern Lebanon and the significant part of Beirut became flat, while 150 bridges collapsed and 600 km highways considerably suffered. The required energy sources that has been suffered as well as economic depression, cause more difficulty in the country's situation. Huge amounts of steel and cement are needed for the homes' repair, which have been collapsed in the war. Dozens of factories collapsed during the bombardment in the last few weeks. Some experts expect the country's trade to revive with the restructure works, despite adverse situation of economy. Especially stocks of steel and cement firms are expected to provide a significant gain to the investors in the stock market.
