Slovak economy expected to rise by 4.4%

The National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) forecasts GDP (Gross Domestic Product) to grow by 4.4% in 2004 from 4.2% recorded in 2003. This year's GDP is expected to be influenced by the revival of domestic demand. Last year, foreign demand was the main factor of economic growth. In the first quarter of the year, Slovak GDP rose by 5.5% and made Slovakia one of Central Europe's fastest growing economies.
