SIS Turkey releases setup and liquidation numbers

Turkey's State Institute of Statistics today published data on the number of companies established and liquidated during 2004. The SIS data show that 392 mining and quarrying, 226 utility, 4'938 construction and public works, and 3'824 transportation, storage and communication companies were established in 2004. On the other hand, 47 mining and quarrying, 6 utility, 1'285 construction and public works, and 563 transportation, storage and communication companies were liquidated. 3'914 companies were established in 2004, up 26.2% from the previous year. Likewise, 1'353 companies were liquidated, a 68.7% increase from 2003.
