Japanese imported vehicle sales down by 15.8%

The figures issued by the Japan Automobile Importers Association reveal that imported vehicle sales in Japan fell by 15.8% from a year earlier in October to 17'701 units. The association stated that the decline is due to two less working days as well as the diminished sales of Toyota's Avensis model. The 15'789 units of the imported vehicles were produced by foreign automakers. This figure was 7.7% less from a year earlier. The other 1'912 vehicles were made by Japanese automakers overseas, down by 51.3%. About 7.3% of the imports sold last month were produced by Toyota Motor Corp. Sales of foreign-made Toyota brand vehicles amounted to 1'229 units with a decline of 49.6%. Sales of foreign-made Honda brand vehicles, which accounted for 3.54% of the imports sold last month, were also down by 53.6% from a year earlier to 627 vehicles.
