Automotive exports in Turkey reach top

Turkey's automotive exports reached $8.5 billion in the first ten months of this year with a rise of more than 45% compared to the same period of last year. Passenger car exports amounted to $3.2 billion in the same period. According to Uludag Exporters Union (UIB) data, exports of motor vehicles and subsidiary industry sector rose by 36% from a year earlier in October to $941 million. This figure was recorded as $694.1 million in October 2003. Automotive sector exports reached a record level with the $8.5 billion in the first ten months. Exports showed an increase of 45.7% compared to $5.8 billion registered in the same period of last year. Automotive exports were also 18.5% higher than the $7.2 billion recorded in the full-year 2003. In the first ten months, passenger car exports amounted to $3.2 billion with a rise of 82.8%. Exports of carrier motor vehicles rose by 83.8% to 1.7 billion.
