Zaporizhstal sees five percent rise in crude steel output in 2010

According to preliminary results, in 2010 the Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal's finished steel product output increased by 3.6 percent to 2.846 million mt, while its crude steel production rose by five percent to about 3.45 million mt, both compared to 2009.

In addition, in 2010, Zaporizhstal saw a one percent year-on-year increase in its pig iron output to 2.763 million mt, and a three percent year-on-year rise in its agglomerate production to 4.9 million mt.

Zaporizhstal owns stakes in such major Ukrainian companies as Zaporizhya Iron Ore Plant, Zaporizhkoks, and Lugansk Pipe Plant. In 2010, Zaporizhya Iron Ore Plant saw its iron ore production increase by 4.6 percent to 4.5 million mt, Lugansk Pipe Plant registered an almost 46 percent rise in its pipe output to 231,000 mt, while Zaporizhkoks' coke production decreased by 0.3 percent year on year to 1.24 million mt, all compared to 2009.
