Wuhan Steel to move out of Wuhan

China's Hebei Province-based Wuhan Iron & Steel Corp. decided to move its plants from the city of Wuhan to the Xinzhou Yangluo development zone located outside of the city. The company plans to begin the relocation this September and complete it by the end of 2007. Wuhan Steel also plans to build a deep processing unit for high-grade steel production at the new site. The new unit will have an annual capacity of 2.1 million tons. Moving the plants outside of the city will allow Wuhan Steel easier access to transportation. As for the city of Wuhan, its densely populated areas will be freed from the pollution and other side effects of the plants.
