Columbus, Ohio-based metal processor Worthington Industries, Inc. announced Tuesday that its subsidiary Worthington Energy Group has signed a memorandum of understanding with Gestamp Renewables, a subsidiary of Spanish industrial holding company Corporacion Gestamp, to a create a 50-50 joint venture. The new company, called Gestamp Worthington Wind Steel, LLC will produce towers for wind turbines being constructed in the North American market.
The joint venture will manufacture wind towers specifically for renewable energy companies which construct wind tower turbines. The plant will be built in the Cheyenne Logistics Hub, near two major rail lines, in Cheyenne, Wyoming and will produce approximately 300 towers per year.
