World pig iron output up one percent in July from June

In January-July period of this year, world pig iron production amounted to 690.74 million mt, rising by 1.29 percent compared to the same period of 2013, according to the preliminary data covering 38 countries accounting for approximately 99 percent of total world blast furnace pig iron production, released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
 
In the given period, pig iron output in Asia amounted to 533.03 million mt, up 1.31 percent, with 419.72 million mt produced by China, up 0.52 percent, 48.4 million mt produced by Japan, down 0.66 percent, and 30.17 million mt produced by India, up 3.15 percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the same month EU countries produced 56.15 million mt of pig iron, while the CIS produced 48.01 million mt, with respective increases of 4.19 percent and 0.53 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in July this year global pig iron production amounted to 99.39 million metric tons, increasing by 1.05 percent compared to June, and up 0.92 percent on year-on-year basis.

In July alone, pig iron output in Asia amounted to 76.38 million mt, up 0.2 percent, with 59.75 million mt produced by China, down 0.45 percent, 7.22 million mt produced by Japan, down 0.57 percent, and 4.31 million mt produced by India, down 0.19 percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the same month EU countries produced 7.84 million mt of pig iron, while the CIS produced 7.08 million mt, with respective increases of 1.1 percent and 2.66 percent year on year.
