World DRI output down 6.57 percent in February over January

According to the preliminary data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global direct reduced iron (DRI) production in February this year totaled 4.51 million metric tons, decreasing by 6.57 percent compared to January and up by 9.44 percent year on year.

The worldsteel data show that India is the largest DRI producer among the countries surveyed, with a DRI output of 1.56 million metric tons in February, down 8.48 percent year on year, followed by Iran and Venezuela, with outputs of 746,000 mt and 465,000 mt respectively.
