Workers return to ArcelorMittal’s Georgetown mill

After two days of safety training, workers Thursday finally returned to ArcelorMittal's steel mill in Georgetown, South Carolina for the first time since its closure in July of 2009.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, local United Steel Workers Union president James Sanderson announced that workers are preparing the equipment so that steel production can resume by the end of January 2011.

Sanderson also commented that workers will be recalled as the operation develops, and a total of about 250 employees will work at the plan when full production resumes.
