Workers at Venezuela's state-run iron ore producer CVG Ferrominera Orinoco (FMO) continued on Friday a strike initiated on November 15, 2016, according to a media report.

Globo Vision said about 90 percent of the company’s workers joined the strike, which should continue for an “indefinite” period of time, until FMO pays promised labor benefits, according to local union Sintraferrominera.

“Workers have crossed their arms for the incompliance of many benefits promised in our collective hiring agreement,” said Ruben Gonzalez, general secretary at Sintraferrominera.

The halt in production started at the company’s iron ore processing unit and was then expanded to its HBI unit.

A second media report noted workers located at some of the company’s units and mines in Ciudad Piar, Cerro Bolívar, Los Barrancos and Altamira also joined the halt in activities.
