Peru’s only iron ore producer Shougang Hierro Peru announced this week the company’s workers have ended a nearly month-long strike after reaching a deal with a local union.

As a result of the deal, which increased the workers’ wages, employees resumed activities at the iron ore producer.

Activities were halted since September 12, following a strike initiated by the company’s affiliated union and the company’s workers. At the time of the strike, the union said it would continue protesting for an “indefinite” amount of time.

Some 953 workers at Shougang are reportedly to have joined the strike at the time.
