With iron and steel on the rise, Turkish exports climb by 38.77% in July

On August 1, the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) released Turkey's export figures for the month of July. According to the TIM statement, the country's exports in July increased by 38.77 percent compared to the same month of last year to reach US$12.27 billion. Meanwhile, Turkey's exports rose by 36.51 percent in the first seven months of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007, to reach US$79.42 billion.

In addition, Turkey's exports over the 12 months up to the end of July went up by 30.90 percent to US$127.20 billion, TIM Chairman Oguz Satici said. In July, the motor vehicles and automotive spare parts sector maintained its top position with exports worth about $2.48 billion, whereas the high-flying iron and steel sector ranked second with $2.25 billion, and the ready-to-wear and apparel sector ranked third with $1.51 billion.

During the month in question, iron and steel products experienced the highest rise in Turkish exports with an increase of 112.28 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
