WISCO to supply plate for New Baishatuo Yangtze Railway Bridge project

Major Chinese steel producer Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corp. (WISCO) has announced that its subsidiaries Wuhan Iron and Steel Co. Limited and Hubei-based Chinese steel producer Echeng Iron and Steel (Echeng Steel) have signed a contract with China Major Bridge Engineering Co., according to which the two subsidiaries will supply 41,000 mt of bridge plate for the New Baishatuo Yangtze Railway Bridge project, with Echeng Steel to supply 30,000 mt of the total.
 
The New Baishatuo Yangtze River Bridge, which is a key part of the expansion and reconstruction project for the Chongqing-Guiyang (Yuqian) Railway, is over 5,300 meters in length and is expected to be completed in August 2016. This two-tier bridge will be able to accommodate four passenger train lines on its upper tier and two freight train lines on its lower tier.
