On August 31, Hubei Province-based Wuhan Iron & Steel Corporation (WISCO) announced its ex-factory prices for shipments in the fourth quarter of 2007. The details are as follows:
1. HR coils
Prices increased RMB 150/mt ($20/mt). After the changes, the price of 2.75 mm Q235 is at RMB 3,990/mt ($528/mt), while that of 5.5 mm Q235 is at RMB 3,840/mt ($508/mt).
2. CR coils
Prices rose by RMB 230/mt ($30/mt). As a result, the price of 1.0 mm Q195 cold rolled sheet is now at RMB 4,110/mt ($544/mt), while that of 1.0 mm Q195 cold rolled coils is at RMB 4,060/mt ($538/mt).
3. Galvanized coils
Prices increased RMB 100/mt ($13/mt), but the prices of alloy galvanized coils still remain unchanged.
4. Medium plate
Prices of common carbon steel, low-alloy steel, and quality carbon steel went up by RMB 350/mt ($46/mt), while they increased RMB 400/mt ($53/mt) for other special-purpose plate. Following the adjustment, the price of 14-20 mm Q235 plate is at RMB 4,570/mt ($604/mt).
5. Silicon steel
Non-oriented steel: prices of low specifications increased RMB 200/mt ($26/mt), while they rose by RMB 500/mt ($66/mt) for medium and high specifications.
Oriented steel: prices of medium and low specifications increased RMB 1,200/mt ($159/mt), while prices of other specifications remained constant.
6. Wire rod
Prices of common carbon high speed wire rod rose by RMB 120/mt ($16/mt), while they increased RMB 100/mt ($13/mt) for 30MnSi.
7. Prices of other varieties remained at September shipment levels.
All the prices exclude 17 percent VAT and are effective as of August 31, 2007.
