On January 2, 2008, Hubei Province-based Wuhan Iron & Steel Corporation (WISCO) announced an upward adjustment to its ex-factory prices for February 2008. The details are as follows:
1. HR coils
Prices increased RMB 100/mt ($14/mt). After the changes, the price of 2.75 mm Q235 HRC is at RMB 4,590/mt ($631/mt), while that of 5.5 mm Q235 HRC is at RMB 4,400/mt ($605/mt).
2. CR coils
Prices of common carbon CRC increased RMB 350/mt ($48/mt), while the price of Q195 CR rose by RMB 390/mt ($54/mt). As a result, the price of 1.0 mm Q195 cold rolled sheet is now at RMB 4,990/mt ($686/mt).
3. Medium steel plate
The price of bridge plate and shipbuilding plate increased RMB 400/mt ($55/mt), the price of > 26 mm thick common carbon medium plate, qualified carbon medium plate and low alloy plate rose by RMB 400/mt ($55/mt), while the price of < 26 mm thick common carbon medium plate, qualified carbon medium plate and low alloy plate increased RMB 200/mt ($28/mt). After adjustment, the price of 14-20 mm Q235 medium plate is at RMB 4,870/mt ($670/mt).
4. HDG
Prices increased RMB 100/mt ($14/mt). As a result, the price of 1.0 mm WLZn HDG is at RMB 4,783/mt ($658/mt).
5. Silicon steel
Prices of oriented silicon steel increased RMB 1,000/mt ($138/mt), while those of non-oriented silicon steel saw a rise of RMB 100/mt ($14/mt).
6. Wire rod
Prices of 82B qualified wire rod increased RMB 280/mt ($39/mt), while those of other qualified wire rod saw a hike of RMB 200/mt ($28/mt).
All the above prices exclude 17 percent VAT and are effective as of January 2, 2008.
