Weifang East recalls galvanized pipe citing inadequate corrosion protection

Weifang, China-based pipemaker Weifang East Steel Pipe Co., Ltd has called back its Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) product, which, the company says, "may not be adequately protected against corrosion."

"Some EMT sold to retailers through distributors was found not to comply with United States or Canadian safety standards and is not authorized to bear the UL Mark," said the company in a statement. However, the company said that galvanized EMT which is in compliance with United States and Canadian safety standards is identified by the ‘E340594' sign.

The product was manufactured from August 2009 through March 2010.
