Weekly US steel production declines

According to data released this week by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), domestic raw steel production fell to 2.076 million net tons during the week ended June 10, 2006. This is a net decrease from the previous week, in which 2.096 million net tons were produced, and an increase from the same week of the previous year, in which 1.829 million net tons were produced. The regions that produced the most steel during the week ended June 10, 2006 were the Southern District, which produced 632,000 mt of steel, and the Indiana/Chicago district, which produced 562,000 mt.
