Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa), a subsidiary of the Russian
pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK), has announced that in December it produced and delivered to Russian machine building company Uralvagonzavod about 2,500 railroad wheels with a higher hardness of rim and with curvilinear (S-shaped) disks.
The railroad wheels will be used for the
production of a new generation of
freight cars for Russian Railways (RZhD), as, due to their S-shaped
construction, Vyksa's railroad wheels are able to withstand axle loads of up to 30 mt compared with the maximum load of 23.5 mt of conventional wheels.
