Russian steel pipe and railway wheel producer Vyksa Steel Works, a part of Russia-based OMK Group, has announced that it has completed the upgrade of its electric weld pipe shop No. 2.

At the beginning of 2015, the last of the three new electric weld pipe mills, Mill 21-89, was inaugurated at VSW's second pipe shop. This was the last step in the shop's wide-scale overhaul project which cost over RUB 1.4 billion ($22.51 million) and included the construction of three new highly-productive pipe mills: 40-133; 12,7-60, and 21-89.

"The reconstruction allowed for the enhancement of the shop's planned capacity by 30 percent to reach 290,000 mt of pipes per year and to considerably expand the range of pipes owing to shaped sections and circular pipes. We are expecting the modernized shop to reach planned capacity by the third quarter of 2015. The modern lines will allow for the manufacturing of high-quality products that will meet all the requirements of our clients today," said VSW's managing director Sergey Filippov.
