Austrian steelmaker voestalpine has announced that at the end of September it is opening a new head office for its special steel division in Turkey, jointly with its wholly-owned subsidiary Böhler Uddeholm. Voestalpine already operates in Turkey, generating revenue of €160 million in 2013 alone.

The new head office will be located in Gebze near Istanbul on a new site which occupies more than 16,000 square meters with offices, warehouses and processing mills. Up to now, the head office has been located in Besiktas, Istanbul.  Voestalpine stated that the site in question will be its head office in Turkey for direct sales of the company's special steel products, adding that an expansion of the processing, coating, and heat treatment capacity is already being planned.

"The new head office meets the requirements of the Turkish market with its stable growth. We are investing here in order to take advantage of the positive development, particularly in the tool steel segment, and to optimize the service we provide for our customers,"  said Franz Rotter, voestalpine board member and head of its special steel division.
