Voestalpine Grobblech, a subsidiary of Austria-based Voestalpine Group, has announced the receipt of an order from the Russian pipemaker United Metallurgical Company (OMK) for the potential delivery of up to 200,000 metric tons of heavy plates, to be used later for the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

About half of the agreed volume will be sent to OMK in 2008. The approximate value of this first shipment is €100 million. In subsequent years, OMK may request the remaining volume of the contract.

The current contract represents the largest single order ever received by Voestalpine Grobblech.
