The president of the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), Ruan Zhiqiang, has addressed a letter to Vietnam's prime minister and the relevant government department, suggesting that iron ore exports from the country should be halted - as reported by Vietnamese media sources.

In the letter, the VSA stated that the iron ore production capacity of Vietnam at present is approximately 1.8 million mt. With several blast furnaces currently under construction in the country, Vietnam's demand for iron ore is expected to increase in the future.
