Venezuelan state-owned steelmaker Complejo Siderurgico Nacional (CSN) expects a final production number for the first quarter to reach 40,000 mt of steel, the company’s CEO, Jairo Rojas, told local media El Universal. As for Q2, the executive estimated CSN should produce 70,000 mt.

Rojas, who assumed the CEO role at CSN in October last year, said CSN exported billet to Gerdau’s steelmaker, Gerdau Metaldom, in the Dominican Republic. While the executive did not disclose the quantity that was exported, he said the value of the exports totaled $1.4 million.

Rojas added that another international order to an undisclosed client is expected to ship soon, which would generate about $2 million in revenues for CSN. The money is said to guarantee the operation of CSN’s seven mills.
