Venezuela’s ministry of industry has been talking to local steel producers in order to boost the segment’s competitiveness, according to media reports.

The government has reportedly been gathering with local producers, including ArcelorMittal’s steel tube producer Unicon, to “strengthen the metals industry and to boost production at base companies.”

As one of the companies that could benefit from the government’s move, Unicon has a strong presence in wide range of sectors, including not only metals, but also the oil and automotive industries.

Unicon produces and sells electric resistance welded (ERW) steel pipes, and has a installed capacity of 500,000 metric tons per year.
