Vale's iron ore exports up 10.7 percent in January-April

In April this year, Brazilian miner Vale's iron ore export volume totaled 24.17 million mt, up 9.9 percent compared to April 2015 and falling by 4.3 percent compared to March, according to Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase). In the first four months of the current year, Vale's iron ore exports increased by 10.7 percent year on year to 95.46 million metric tons. 
 
Meanwhile, in April this year Vale's iron ore sales in its domestic market amounted to 1.19 million mt, increasing by 19.2 percent year on year and down by 2.3 percent month on month. In the January-April period of this year, Vale's iron ore sales in its domestic market totaled 4.68 million mt, rising by 14.8 percent as compared with the same period last year.
