Vale's iron ore exports up 10 percent in January-August

In August this year, Brazilian miner Vale's iron ore export volume totaled 24.82 million mt, increasing by 0.27 percent year on year and by 9.03 percent compared to July, according to Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase). In the first eight months of the current year, Vale's iron ore exports increased by 10.03 percent year on year to 178.46 million metric tons.
 
Meanwhile, in August this year Vale's iron ore sales in its domestic market amounted to 1.31 million mt, decreasing by 4.93 percent year on year and increasing by 0.85 percent month on month. In the first eight months of this year, Vale's iron ore sales in its domestic market totaled 10 million mt, decreasing by 0.34 percent as compared with the same period of last year.
