Vale’s co-owned steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP) expects to export 1.06 million mt of slab in 2016, according to Sergio Leite, CEO at CSP.

Leite said the top destinations for the company’s output should be Europe, Asia and the US. CSP’s first shipment was 20,000 mt of slab to Dongkuk customers in Turkey and Italy.

According to a media report, a second of 32,000 mt slab cargo should be soon loaded, heading to Italy and Morocco.

Leite said CSP expects to operate at full shipment capacity by October or November this year.

“We’re now stabilizing production. It’s a phase for knowing the equipment, adequate processes, certify products as well as all our producing units and end training,” he told Diario do Nordeste.

CSP is a JV between Vale, Posco and Dongkuk.
