Brazilian iron ore producer Vale received this week a license from an environmental authority in the state of Para to expand iron ore capacity at its Serra Leste mine in the city of Curionópolis.
According to the state’s environmental authority, Semas, Vale is now able to expand its iron ore capacity from 2 million mt/year to 6 million mt/year.
Vale’s representative said the iron ore produced at the Serra Leste mine is well-valued in the market, as it has high ferrous content.
Earlier this year, Vale made the first shipment of iron ore from its Serra Leste mine. According to the company, it shipped 34,000 mt of the commodity in March this year.
