Vale posted a record iron-ore output in the second quarter of 2014, the company announced Thursday.

According to Vale, it produced 79.4 million metric tons (mt) in the period, its best performance for a Q2.

Better climate conditions and ramp-ups at its plant 2 in Carajas, as well as in its Conceicao Itabirintos plant, helped the company to achieve this result.

Carajas production was 29.3 million mt, 25.3 and 33.7 percent up over Q1 2014 and Q2 2013, respectively.
