Vale advances Brazilian iron ore project

Brazilian mining company Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (Vale) is continuing with its Apolo iron ore project in Brazil's Iron Quadrangle region, located near the cities of Caete and Santa Barbara in the state of Minas Gerais.

The $2.2 billion project involves the excavation of an open-pit mine and the construction of a processing plant aimed at producing around 24 million mt of iron ore on an annual basis.
