US rig counts increase while Canadian rig counts continue to decrease

According to the latest report by Baker Hughes, for the week ending February 17, the Canadian rig count decreased by 4 to 705 rigs and was up 69 year-on-year.

The US rig count rose during the week ending February 17, increasing by 5 to 1,994 rigs and remained up 281 year-on-year. Oil rigs increased last week by 9 to 1,272 and were up 474 rigs from the same week a year ago, while gas rigs decreased by 4 to 716, and were down 189 rigs year-on-year.
