US rig count downtrend not so severe this week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending June 19 the US rig count decreased by two to 857, after a nine-rig drop the previous week. The gas rig count increased by two to 223, whereas the oil rig count decreased by four to 631. The overall rig count is down by 1,001 from 1,858 rigs during the same week a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by nine in the week ending June 19 to 136, after an 11-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 129 from 265 rigs during the same week a year ago.
