Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending July 31 the
US rig count decreased by two to 874, after a 19-rig increase the previous week. The gas rig count decreased by seven to 209, whereas the oil rig count increased by five to 664. The overall rig count is down by 1,015 from 1,889 rigs during the same week a year ago.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 15 in the week ending July 31 to 215, after an eight-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 177 from 392 rigs during the same week a year ago.
