On Monday, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that US raw steel production increased 0.5 percent last week (ended July 28), following three consecutive weekly drops.
Total raw steel production the United States amounted to 1,846,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 0.5 percent increase from the 1,837,000 nt produced in the previous week, and a 0.7 percent increase from the 1,834,000 nt produced in the same week a year ago.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 74.7 percent in the week ending July 28, compared to 74.3 percent in the previous week and 75 percent in the same week last year.
