The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production fell 1.5 percent last week (ended June 23), following a 0.2 percent drop the previous week and a 1.8 percent decline the week prior.
Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,854,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 1.5 percent reduction from the 1,882,000 nt produced in the previous week, and 0.5 percent below the 1,864,000 nt produced in the same week of last year.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 75 percent in the week ending June 23, compared to 76.2 percent in the previous week and 76.2 percent in the same week a year ago.
