US steel service center shipments rise in April

According to data from the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI), US service centers shipments of steel products in April 2013 increased 2.1 percent from April 2012. Meanwhile, steel product inventories at the end of April 2013 decreased 2.1 percent from March.

Canadian service center steel shipments increased by 0.8 percent from April 2012. Steel product inventories decreased 4.5 percent from April a year ago and the inventory to shipments ratio decreased 5.3 percent from a year ago.
